Eleuthera can be reached directly from Ft. Lauderdale, Nassau and Miami. Governors Harbour Airport (GHB) is the closest to Pink Sand Cottage.

Eleuthera's other popular airport is in North Eleuthera (ELH). It can be reached from Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. It is about 50 miles away from Pink Sand Cottage, but is an alternative if no flights are available to GHB. North Eleuthera Airport is served by all the above airports listed and by Island Express (954-359-0380).

Getting Around

The roads are narrow - and the rental cars are older, less-than-perfect models - so you can't speed down the highway. Besides, there is no highway. The main road, which runs north to south, one lane in each direction, offers many unspoiled, breathtaking views of the ocean.

Cars can be rented by the week or the day; they're $50 to $70 a day, or about $280 to $350 a week. If you want to explore the 110-mile-long island, you'll need a car, but if you want to just relax at Pink Sand Cottage you may prefer daily car rentals for occasional sightseeing, dining out and grocery-store runs.

Bahamas Ferry Services provides a fun way to hop between islands, with modern, reliable service and several options for travel:

* The M/V BoHengy – high-speed daily service from Nassau to Harbour Island and North Eleuthera (twice on Fridays) and twice weekly from Nassau to Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera (Friday & Sunday). This unique waterborne experience is via a 115-foot, high-speed catamaran that can accommodate approximately 177 passengers and is fully air-conditioned.
* The M/V Sealink – round-trip service from Nassau to Exuma, Andros and Eleuthera.
* The M/V Seawind – round-trip service from Nassau to Andros, Eleuthera and Abaco.
